Mahkatop — Walking is one of the simple physical activities that can aid in weight loss, especially in fat burning. According to Yasmine Arida, a fitness coach, there are several factors to consider to ensure that walking is truly effective in weight loss.
According to Arida, the significant difference lies in walking speed. Walking slowly, although beneficial for metabolism and mental health, may not reach the optimal zone for fat burning. “To aid in the weight loss process, the body needs to reach the ‘zone two’ cardio, where fat becomes the primary fuel rather than carbohydrates,” she explained.
Arida suggests walking at a sufficiently intense pace, as if in a hurry. This exercise should be done for a minimum of 20 minutes up to a maximum of 40 minutes per session. When using a treadmill, the recommended speed is between 4 to 6 kilometers per hour.
“By reaching zone two cardio, the body will efficiently start burning fat for energy. Consistency in this exercise, combined with a healthy diet, will support effective weight loss,” she added.
So, for those looking to utilize walking as part of their weight loss regimen, it’s important to pay attention to the intensity and duration of the exercise to achieve desired results.(*)
