7 Simple Habits for Better and Quality Sleep

Mahkatop — Quality sleep has significant benefits for both physical and mental health. The National Sleep Foundation recommends adults get 7 to 9 hours of sleep per day. Lack of sleep can lead to mood issues, anxiety, and even depression. To help you achieve better sleep, here are seven simple habits you can adopt.

1. Maintain a Regular Sleep Schedule

Having a consistent sleep schedule is essential. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. This helps synchronize your internal body clock and improve sleep quality.

2. Relax Before Bed

Relaxing before bed can help you rest better. Spend about 30-60 minutes winding down with activities like yoga, meditation, or reading a book. Taking a warm bath can also calm your nervous system and prepare your body for sleep.

3. Keep Gadgets Away

Keeping gadgets away before bed is crucial to avoid disruptions. Studies have shown that using phones before sleep can cause tiredness due to work-related stress. Place your gadgets out of reach to reduce the temptation to check social media.

4. Avoid Caffeine

Caffeine can interfere with your ability to fall asleep. Instead, opt for warm milk or herbal teas like chamomile, which can help relax your body.

5. Create a Comfortable Sleep Environment

Ensure your bedroom is quiet, dark, and relaxing with the right temperature. An ideal room temperature for sleep is around 19 degrees Celsius.

6. Take a Warm Bath

Taking a warm bath helps your body reach an ideal temperature for rest and makes you feel more relaxed. Using aromatic soaps like lavender can also aid relaxation.

7. Exercise Regularly

Engaging in at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily can enhance sleep quality and overall health. Exercising outdoors can provide additional benefits due to natural light exposure, which helps regulate your sleep cycle. Avoid exercising one to two hours before bedtime as it can increase energy levels and body temperature, making it harder to fall asleep.

Incorporating these habits can help you achieve better and more quality sleep, ultimately improving your overall health. We hope these tips are helpful. (*)
