Mahkatop — Asian Agri conducted an Alertness Parade and fire prevention training in Balai Adat Segati Village Field, Langgam District, Pelalawan Regency on July 3, 2024. The aim of this activity was to increase the awareness of the fire prevention team regarding the dangers of fires during the dry season.
Pelalawan BPBD Chief, Zulfan, appreciated Asian Agri’s efforts in preventing forest and land fires, hoping that this program can reduce the incidence of such fires.
Victory Brahmana, Group Manager of PT MUP, stated that the purpose of this activity was to enhance the capabilities of the company’s fire extinguishment team in prevention and firefighting techniques, as well as ensuring the readiness of equipment for use.
Hafiz Hazalin Sinaga, the Fire Free Village Manager, mentioned that this activity also included the signing of the Fire-Free Village (FFV) agreement for the 2024-2025 period with five surrounding villages: Lubuk Ogong Village, Rantau Baru Village, Tambak Village, Segati Village, and Bagan Limau Village.
Coordinator of Manggala Agni Region II, Edwin Putra, appreciated Asian Agri’s role in preventing forest and land fires and emphasized the importance of involving village communities.
Asian Agri has implemented a no-burn policy since 1994 and launched the FFV program since 2016 to collaborate with communities in preventing forest and land fires. This program also provides economic incentives to villages that successfully maintain their areas free from fires.
The event was attended by Bandar Sei Kijang Police Chief Iptu Darmainil, Langgam Police Chief Alfredo Kristina Kaban, Langgam Subdistrict Head Maskandar, Ukui Subdistrict Head Joko Hadi Syaifudin Zuhri, as well as village heads who signed the agreement.
