Mahkatop — Dr. Djaniko MH Girsang, SH M.Hum was inaugurated as the Deputy Chief Justice of the Medan High Court in a swearing-in and inauguration ceremony held in the Cakra Courtroom of the Medan High Court on Monday (July 22, 2024). The ceremony was led by the Chief Justice of the Medan High Court, Dr. Drs Panusunan Harahap SH MH.
In his speech, Chief Justice Panusunan Harahap expressed gratitude for the inauguration, noting that the position of Deputy Chief Justice had been vacant for five months. “We are deeply grateful and joyful that starting today, the position of Deputy Chief Justice of the Medan High Court has been filled after being vacant for five months,” he said.
Dr. Djaniko Girsang previously served as the Deputy Chief Justice of the Makassar and Central Sulawesi High Courts, as well as the Chief Justice of the Medan District Court Class IA Special. An alumnus of the Faculty of Law at the University of North Sumatra (USU), he replaces Dr. Budi Santoso SH MH, who now serves as the Chief Justice of the West Papua High Court.
Chief Justice Harahap hopes that Dr. Djaniko’s experience will enhance performance and professionalism within the judiciary of North Sumatra. “With your experience, integrity, and dedication, we are confident that you will be able to perform your duties and responsibilities well and further improve the Medan High Court in the future,” he said.
The Medan High Court currently has 33 Senior Judges, 4 Ad Hoc Corruption Judges, 4 Judicial Judges, 12 Structural Officials, 29 Substitute Registrars, 17 Clerical Staff, and 18 Secretariat Staff.
According to data as of July 19, 2024, there are 144 remaining criminal and corruption cases from 2023, with 1,573 new cases in 2024. The total caseload is 1,717 cases, with 1,542 cases already resolved, leaving 175 cases pending. In civil matters, there are 67 remaining cases from 2023 and 403 new cases in 2024, with a total caseload of 470 cases, and 406 cases already resolved, leaving 64 cases pending.
The Medan High Court is also striving to achieve the Clean and Serving Bureaucracy Region (WBBM) status after previously attaining the Corruption-Free Region (WBK) status. Chief Justice Harahap called on all judicial personnel to enhance professionalism, utilize technology, and maintain the integrity and dignity of the judiciary.
John Pantas Lumban Tobing, the Public Relations Officer of the Medan High Court, stated that the inauguration ceremony was also attended by Kadilmilti I Medan First Admiral TNI Hari Aji Sugianto, SH MH, Deputy Chief Justice of the Medan Religious High Court Drs H Alaidin MH, and structural and functional officials from the Medan High Court. Also present were officials from the Dharmayukti Karini organization in North Sumatra Province and branches, as well as chiefs, deputy chiefs, judges, registrars, secretaries, and court officials from district courts within the Medan High Court jurisdiction.
Dr. Djaniko’s family members in attendance included his wife, Netty br Situmorang, and their two children, Yaspis B.T. Girsang and Jameraldo C.T. Girsang. (*)
