Mahkatop — Incumbent President Joe Biden has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 United States presidential election, which is set to take place on November 5th.
This news was conveyed by Joe Biden via social media. He stated that this decision is in the best interest of the Democratic Party and the country.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. Although my intention was to run for re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country for me to step down and fulfill my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” said Joe Biden.
Biden confirmed that he would provide detailed remarks to the public about his withdrawal later this week.
He also expressed his appreciation for Kamala Harris, who has served as Vice President of the United States during his tenure.
“I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an incredible partner in all of this work,” he said.
“And let me express my sincere appreciation to the American people for the trust you have placed in me,” Biden said to the American public.
Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 US Presidential Election, as reported by Reuters on Sunday (July 21), came after the Democratic Party lost confidence in his mental condition and ability to defeat his opponent, Donald Trump.
Democratic Party leaders were concerned and attempted to persuade Joe Biden to cancel his plans to run again in this year’s election.
This pressure from the Democrats followed the president’s declining political performance during the campaign, especially after the first debate with his rival, Donald Trump, on June 24.
Biden’s performance in that debate caused the Democratic Party to worry that the president might not be healthy enough to serve a second term.
Trump’s electability has also consistently outperformed Biden in most election polls so far. The incident involving Trump’s shooting has also reportedly boosted the former president’s advantage in this election.
