Mahkatop — The Coordinator of the Spokespersons of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Ahmad Mabruri, welcomed the support of the National Democratic Party (NasDem) for Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada). Mabruri claimed that the party, chaired by Surya Paloh, would also endorse Sohibul Iman as the deputy governor candidate to accompany Anies.
“NasDem, God willing, is okay with Anies-Iman,” said Mabruri in a written message to Tempo on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Mabruri revealed that PKS continues to communicate with several political parties to garner support for the Anies-Sohibul Iman pair. However, he was reluctant to disclose specific strategies being carried out by PKS.
“As for PKS’s strategy for the Aman (Anies-Iman) pair, I won’t tell the media. Otherwise, it would leak,” he said.
Previously, the NasDem Party officially endorsed Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub). NasDem Secretary General Hermawi Taslim announced this decision after a meeting chaired by Surya Paloh on Monday, July 22, 2024.
NasDem stated that they are giving unconditional support to Anies and allowing him the freedom to choose his deputy, with the only condition being that the deputy should not be from the NasDem Party.
Until now, Anies has not yet decided who will be his running mate for the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. (*)
