Mahkatop — If you’re visiting Perth, don’t miss the chance to see Optus Stadium, one of the largest and most magnificent stadiums in the city. Located in Burswood, Perth, Western Australia, this stadium was inaugurated in January 2018 and can accommodate up to 60,000 spectators.
Optus Stadium is renowned not only for its grand architecture but also for its complete facilities, such as 60 toilets, disability seating, 450 wheelchair-accessible paths, and 12 lifts. This stadium is home to the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers of the Australian Rules Football League and can also host cricket matches, soccer games, and concerts.
Around the stadium, there are an amphitheater area, children’s playgrounds, and picnic areas. Optus Stadium also provides cafes, playgrounds, and children’s play areas. To support cyclists and pedestrians, the stadium offers 600 bicycle racks and dedicated pathways.
The stadium also has several multifunctional rooms that can be used for meetings, gala dinners, concerts, and conferences. With construction costs reaching 1.6 billion Australian Dollars, Optus Stadium was chosen as one of the world’s most beautiful sports facilities at the 2019 Prix Versailles international architecture awards.
Optus Stadium’s environmentally friendly design uses sustainable materials and efficient energy consumption. The bronze facade, made from anodized aluminum, reflects Western Australia’s geology during the day, while the LED system with 15,000 lights highlights the colors of the Eagles or Dockers at night.
The stadium features an oval-shaped field to accommodate cricket matches and other sports events. The seating design allows spectators to enjoy views of the Swan River while staying close to the action on the field. The lightweight fabric roof structure protects 85 percent of the 60,000 seats and is designed to clean itself automatically.
Facilities within the stadium include two large screens, each measuring 340 square meters, and 1,000 TVs that enable spectators to follow the game from various angles. Security is a priority, with 650 CCTV cameras coordinated by an on-site police station.
Optus Stadium also offers various exciting tours, including a rooftop walk 42 meters above the ground for adrenaline junkies. (*)
