Mahkatop — News about the attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald Trump last weekend continues to be a hot topic. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared his opinion on the incident.
Zuckerberg considers Trump’s reaction—immediately standing up after being shot and raising his fist with the American flag waving behind him—as something cool and inspiring.
“Seeing Donald Trump rise after being shot in the face and raising his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life,” Zuckerberg said in an interview with Bloomberg, as quoted by MAHKATOP, Sunday (July 21, 2024).
“At a certain level, as an American, it’s hard not to get emotional about that spirit and determination, and I think that’s why a lot of people like him,” he added.
However, Zuckerberg stated that he does not intend to support Trump or his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden, in the upcoming U.S. election. The 40-year-old said he has no plans to get involved in the U.S. election in any way.
Zuckerberg’s comments contrast with those of several other Silicon Valley figures, such as Elon Musk, who openly supports Trump. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Musk will donate USD 45 million per month to Trump’s campaign.
The relationship between Zuckerberg and Trump has been strained. Following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, Facebook and Instagram indefinitely banned Trump’s accounts. Although these accounts have now been restored, Trump indicated he has not forgiven Meta or Zuckerberg. Trump once called Facebook the enemy of the people and recently threatened to imprison Zuckerberg.
Trump has also changed his position just to punish Meta and Zuckerberg. While still serving as President, Trump pushed for a ban on TikTok in the U.S. However, he later changed his mind, saying that banning TikTok would only benefit Meta. (*)
